Although standard PMMA has limited impact resistance, there are specially developed impact-resistant reinforced variants that expand the range of possible applications. Its dielectric strength of 35 to 40 kV/mm also makes PMMA an excellent electrical insulator. Thanks to its high rigidity, it remains mechanically stable under load.

Thermal properties:

PMMA offers remarkable advantages in terms of thermal properties. It has a thermal conductivity of 0.19 W/(m·K), which means it has average thermal conductivity. PMMA has a specific heat capacity of 1.47 kJ/(kg·K), which enables good thermal inertia. The glass transition temperature is around 100 °C, above which the material becomes plastically deformable, which is an advantage for thermosensitive applications. PMMA is also suitable for modifications that require higher thermal resistance.
